Intro
Most people use Claude for one chat at a time. Advanced users run a handful of sessions at once. The top 1% have teams of agents coordinating over 20 sessions and doing the work of multiple employees.
In this video I take you through the three levels of mastering agents and show you how to build a team yourself, from a CEO, CMO or CFO to a personal travel agent or financial planner. You don’t need Grok Bot, Meta Muse or OpenAI Dots. You can do all of it in Claude today.
I’m a five-time entrepreneur who has generated hundreds of millions in revenue, and I teach AI automation to companies and classrooms worldwide.
Level 1
Before the how, let’s get the words straight: agent, session and chat. An agent is just a Claude session or chat doing work for you. It’s the exact same thing as talking to ChatGPT. That’s their agent doing work for you.
Creating an agent
Want a CEO agent? Start a new chat in Claude and say, act as my CEO. I’m not kidding, that is it. Claude offers to rename the session to CEO, and because it knows me, it asks which business I want it to be the CEO of.
People rave about Grok Bot, Meta Muse and OpenAI Dots because they’re good at marketing. They name their agents, give them images and sell the dream of an AI-agentic workforce. You can do the same in Claude. I start another new session, type act as my CMO, and now I have a CEO agent and a CMO agent.
Agent is just a really fancy term for it.
Agent-to-agent messaging
Just like those bots, your agents can talk to each other. In my CEO session I hit the @ symbol and a menu shows my recent sessions. I tag the CMO and tell the CEO to delegate five blog posts to it.
The CMO gets a message from the CEO and asks whether I’ve approved it and want it to start. That still takes a manual click from me, and level 2 fixes that. You might ask why not just open a new session for the blog posts. You’re right, but there’s a way to make this more powerful.
Agent prompts
In the free download below the video are my agent prompts. Open the PDF called Build Your Own Claude Agent Team and copy whichever prompt you want: team manager, chief of staff, CEO, CMO.
Fill in the placeholders with your goal, the date, and some context about you and your business or schoolwork. Paste the CEO prompt into your CEO agent and it acts as a world-class CEO and a brutally honest thinking partner. A much better prompt does a much better job.
Why long sessions break
Now you may think you’ll keep coming back to the same CEO and CMO. Don’t. The longer a session gets, the more its memory fills up and the less it follows your instructions. Three days and thousands of lines later, it forgets what happened earlier in the conversation.
Because the longer the session or chat or agent gets, the more their memory fills up and they stop remembering instructions.
Custom agents skill
The same download has an installable skill called Custom Agents: a set of instructions and files, with a references folder holding the CEO, CFO and every other agent. The prompts inside are even more detailed than the PDF.
The file ends in .skill, which works like a .zip. Double-click it to open it with Claude and click Add to Library, or go to Settings, search for Skills and drag it in. Then start a new session, type a forward slash and Custom, and pick Custom Agents. Restart Claude if you don’t see it. Say act as my CEO and it loads all those instructions and already knows my companies.
Training your agents
A CEO agent alone is no big deal, because it doesn’t know my rules. A CMO writing blog posts doesn’t know how I want them written or how to publish them. You have two options.
The first is to teach the CMO and tell Claude to edit the Custom Agents skill. It works, but now one skill does everything. The better way is a brand new skill for each job. Just tell Claude to create a blog post writing skill for you. It asks how you want to write and where to publish, and walks you through it. Mine is a TwelveTabs SEO content writer, so when I say write five new blog posts, it knows exactly how. My next video shows how to build skills, and you must master them.
Level 2
This is where agents start earning their keep. Advanced users run several sessions at once, like three blog posts writing side by side. The top 1% don’t run those sessions themselves. One manager agent, like your CMO, creates and runs them all.
I had my CMO agent publish over 700 blog posts on TwelveTabs in a few days. Buyer beware: mass producing content for SEO and AEO is generally not a good idea. This is a passion project and an experiment, but it shows the power.
Treat your agents like employees with a to-do list in Notion, GitHub, Trello or Google Docs. I use GitHub, where 37 items are queued and there were once over 400 tasks. To run it by hand, start a new session and say, use the custom agents skill and the CMO to work on my to-do list. In my test, I asked for three emails. It created three nested sessions under the main agent, and the main agent knew all three were done because they talk to each other.
I don’t ever read my nested subagents, barely ever.
I only talk to the main agent. Dozens of sessions ran yesterday that I never read. That’s how I built 700 blog posts, social channels, videos and a SaaS app.
Level 3
Level three is autopilot. Claude used to call this feature routines, but now it’s called Scheduled. Instead of asking your CMO to write blog posts every day, you tell Claude to create a daily schedule that runs your CMO agent and writes 10 posts a day.
Many of you already do a version of this, like daily email replies or a meeting summary. I have two agents run every morning, and the last one is the most important in this video.
CEO agent
The first is my CEO agent. It runs around 6:50 a.m., looks at every Claude session from the day before, plus my emails, calendar invites and recorded meetings, and recommends the next actions. Then it emails and Slacks me what I should do today, and it can do a lot of that work too.
Click Scheduled in Claude to see it. This morning it told me two things needed my attention, and that it had moved 67 marketing cards to done. I just reply yes, handle it. If you connect your email or Slack, you can even have Claude check for your reply an hour later and do the work when you say yes.
My most important agent
The problem is that with 10 or 15 scheduled routines, you get flooded with alerts and end up ignoring all of them. The agent that fixes that is my Chief of Staff. It filters out the noise and gives me one actionable summary a day.
I have over 15 scheduled routines running every day from midnight to 7 a.m., but none of them are allowed to message me.
They only write an output file. The Chief of Staff reads those files, then emails or Slacks me what needs my attention and what it can handle. It knows every skill I have installed, my connectors like Gmail, Google Calendar and Slack, and all my memory files. When I need to tell an agent something, I delegate through it.
Free download file
The Chief of Staff is in the same download, in a folder called Chief of Staff Routine. Start a new session, drag the folder in and say, set up this Chief of Staff routine for me. For a more powerful setup, connect Claude to Gmail, Google Calendar and a meeting recorder like Granola, in baby steps, from Settings and Connectors.
You now know all three levels: give an agent a name and a prompt, let it delegate to other agents, and put them on a schedule. If it still feels like a lot of steps, copy the transcript on this page, paste it into Claude and tell it to set everything up for you.
Most people use Claude for one chat at a time. Advanced users are running a handful of sessions at once. But the top 1% do that. Have teams of agents coordinating over 20 sessions at once and doing the work of multiple employees. In this video, I’ll take you through the three levels of mastering agents and show you how to build teams of agents yourself. From a CEO, CMO, or CFO to even a personal travel agent. Or, financial planner that can manage your finances. And no, you do not need to use Grok Bot, Meta Muse, OpenAI Dots, or Instinct, or any of those. You can actually do everything yourself using Claude today.

And if you’re not already, make sure to hit that subscribe button for more AI tutorials like this. So to get started with level one, I want to first explain what is an agent versus what is a session versus what is a chat. An agent is just a Claude session or chat doing work for you. It’s the exact same thing when you talk to ChatGPT. That’s their agent doing work for you. So when someone says they have a CEO agent, do you want to know how to get one also? Are you ready for this? Claude, give me some drumroll sound effects.
You’re just going to start a new chat in Claude. And you’re gonna say, act as my CEO. Guys, I’m not kidding. That is it. You’re gonna see it says, CEO, I can rename the session to CEO, and that’s my CEO agent. And because Claude knows about me, it’s asking, hey, what business should I be the CEO of right now? Right? But that’s literally it! But, now you’re probably wondering, wait, that can’t be it, it’s too simple. Well, there’s definitely more advanced tactics I’m going to show you in this video, but that’s the basics of it. So how come everyone is raving today about Elon Musk’s new Grok Bot, or Meta Muse, or OpenAI Dots that have all these teams of agents doing work for you? And, isn’t it so much more powerful because those agents... Can message each other and work with each other.
Well, yes, but they are just really good at marketing, where they name their agents, they add images to their agents, and they are selling the dream of an AI-agentic workforce. But, do you want to see how you can do that also with Claude? Are you ready? Claude, give me another drumroll. So, I’m going to start another new session now. Ready for this? Act as my CMO. Okay, so we’re getting somewhere now. So as you can see, I have a CEO and I have a CMO agent now. Once again, as a reminder, when I click new and I type in hi and I hit enter, that is an agent or a session or a chat. It’s all the same thing.
Agent is just a really fancy term for it. Okay? But now, just like Grok Bot, how the agents can talk to each other. Are you ready for this? So I’m gonna go back into my CEO agent, and I’m gonna hit the at symbol on my keyboard, and a menu pops up, but what you’re gonna notice is, look, my last agent I just opened, or my last session or chat, is my CMO one, and I can click on it to tag. My other session or agent, and I can say, delegate five blog posts to the CMO. And it’s going to delegate that to my CMO. So as you see here, I’m going to skip, and you’re going to see, just wait a second. Right now, it’s going to get a message from my CEO agent from that message I just sent.
Alright, here we go. You’re seeing received a message from the CEO. And it said, the CEO asked me to draft five TwelveTabs blog posts. Have you approved it? Do you want me to start? And I can either answer here. Or, do whatever I like. Now, what you’re realizing, however, is it’s still requiring manual action for me, and I have to select something. So if I wanted to, I could go back to the CEO session and say, delegate the five blog posts, coordinate everything with them, message back and forth. I do not want to go into the other sessions, I just want to talk to you, CEO. But that is a sneak peek of how to get there with Level 2, and we’re going to come back to it. But, you’re probably wondering, well, why would I even need my CEO agent to delegate work to my CMO agent when I can just do it in a new session, right?
I can just say, a new session, right? Create five new blog posts for my website, twelvetabs.com, that I’m working on, as an example. Why do I need to go through the CEO and the CMO and all that stuff? You’re actually right. However, there is a way to actually make this work and be more powerful. I’m showing you the basics now, but that’s what I’m going to show you next. This is where we get to level one, agent prompts. In the description of this video is a free link to download my agent prompts and agent skills. Once you download it, open the PDF called Build Your Own Claude Agent Team. Then, you can just scroll down and copy whatever prompts you want. So I have a prompt for my team manager, my chief of staff, my CEO, my CMO, whatever you want.
And you should also give it some additional information. So there’s a lot of placeholders here, like what’s your goal, what date, what context you want to give it. So give it some information about you and your business or schoolwork, whatever you’re working on. But now, I can take this CEO prompt that’s much better, okay, and I can copy it, and I can go back into Claude, go back into my CEO agent, or start a new one if I want, and I can paste this, and now it’s going to act as a world-class CEO, it’s going to be a brutally honest thinking partner, it’s going to do a lot better of a job from a much better prompt. However... What you’re now asking is, okay, so I have a CEO and CMO agent, and I’m going to come back to them over and over again. No. Because the longer the session or chat or agent gets, the more their memory fills up and they stop remembering instructions.
So I can give it instructions now, what to follow, what we’re working on. But imagine three days from now, when there’s thousands of lines of text that we went through, it does not remember, or it will forget to remember all the lines from the earlier part of the conversation. So, in the next chapter, I’m going to teach you about custom skills. So in the same download file I gave you, I’m also giving you an installable skill called Custom Agents that you can see here. It’s basically just a set of instructions and files that you can see. So if I go to my skill, it has all the instructions about all the different agents. If I go into the References folder, You can also see that we have the CEO, Agent, CFO, all the different things.
So, remember the prompt I showed you in the PDF? In here, it’s even more detailed. Okay? It’s an even better prompt. And this is just a set of instructions. That’s what a skill is. So, if you go back to the main folder, you are going to see a file called custom-agents.skill. Whenever you see .skill, it’s sort of like .zip, where you can uncompress it. So, this includes the same thing as this folder, but what you’re going to want to do is open it with Claude. So, on a PC, just double-click, it should open with Claude. And then Claude is going to say, do you want to add this custom agent to your library? And it can show you what it’s going to add, right, all the instructions. And also, there’s a references file on the left with all your different agents it can build for you.
Cool? So you’re gonna click Add to Library. And I already have it, so I’m gonna replace it. If you are not able to double-click that skill file and open it in Claude, on the left of Claude, you are going to click your name on the bottom left, click on Settings, and search for Skills. And click on that. And then you’re gonna click Add on the top right. And then, literally, just drag and drop it in, and that’s it. And you can click Upload. That’s it. By the way, Claude does run security scans for vulnerability, malware, etc. So you are protected as well. Once it’s installed, we’re gonna click New to start a new session in Claude. By the way, I’m using Claude Code, not Cowork, because it’s more powerful, it’s better, that’s what I recommend.
And, I’m gonna type in the forward slash on my keyboard, and there’s a lot of things that are gonna show up, and I’m gonna type in Custom, and you’re gonna see Custom Agents right here. If you do not see that... You need to restart Claude so it can register that new skill that you just uploaded. And now, I can say, act as my CEO, and it’s going to have all those custom instructions loaded in, as you can see, it’s reading it. As you see here, it already knows which companies... About me, because it has the context about me and my business. But now you can start using custom agents too. Pretty cool, right? However, it is still not a big deal yet, because each agent... So this is a CEO agent, it’s a CEO, big deal, but it doesn’t know the rules I want it to follow.
Or the CMO, if I say, write blog posts for me, it doesn’t know how do I want to write the blog posts, what should I follow, what rules, what’s your website, how do I publish on your website, right? It doesn’t know all of that. So you generally have two options to train your agents. Number one. I can just go to my CMO agent and start teaching it. Make sure you update the skill on how to write blog posts. By the way, how you update the skill is just tell Claude, edit my custom agent’s skill to blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, whatever you want. Teach it how to write blog posts. Okay, that’s one way. But it’s not the best way, because now you have one skill doing a lot of stuff for you. It’s not the best. So the second way is to create a brand new skill on how to write blog posts, which is much better, because you could fully separate and customize this skill for this one action.
if you don’t know how to make skills, don’t worry, my next video will show you how, but you must master making skills. For now, the easy way is just to tell Claude, hey Claude, create a blog post writing skill for me. Okay? That’s it. And I can just send that off, and it’s gonna start asking you, how do I, what do you wanna do? How do you want me to write? Where should I publish? Right? It’s asking for folder access. But it’s going to walk you through how to create your own skill. And then once it’s done... You can open a new session and type in slash blog post as an example to select your blog post skill. So, in my example, I have one called, right, TwelveTabs SEO content writer. And I can say, write five new blog posts, and it’s going to know exactly how to write blog posts for me for this specific website or business.
Okay. So far, so good here? You might be asking yourself, if I can do all this work with a skill, writing blog posts as an example, so then why do I need my CEO to delegate work to my CMO, which will just run my blog post skill, when I can just run that skill myself, like I just did right now? And you are 100% correct. There is absolutely no reason to do all that fancy jargon. However... This is where we start unlocking the real value and power behind agents, which brings me to the next chapter on running multiple sessions or multiple agents at once. Alright, welcome to level two.
Remember, at the beginning of this video, I said that most people only run one session at once. And some advanced users run multiple sessions or agents at once. So what does that mean? But I would start multiple new sessions to write multiple blog posts. So what that means is, I would start a new session and use the skill I just showed you to write one blog post. And if I wanted to start living life a little more on the edge, I’d create a second session and have it write a second blog post at the same time. So as you can see here, I can say, write me a blog post. Okay. Another session, write me a blog post. And now I have three blog posts on the left sidebar that are all writing at once.
Multiple sessions. That’s how advanced users use Claude. However, the top 1% of Claude users are not running any of these sessions themselves. They have one manager agent sitting on top, like your CMO, creating and running all the sessions themselves. So it’s like you’re the CMO and you’re delegating work to 20 different employees each. With a different task. So I recently launched this website as a fun passion project called TwelveTabs, and I was able to have my CMO agent publish over 700 blog posts on my website within a few days, completely, fully automated. Buyer beware, disclaimer, mass producing content for SEO and AEO is a different discussion and generally not a good idea.
However, this is just a passion project and experiment, but it gives you an idea of the power. So how do you do this? First, I want you to start thinking of your agents like actual people, employees, managers on your team. I treat my agents like an employee of mine. They have to-do lists in Notion, GitHub, Trello, Google Docs, Google Tasks, any tool that you want to use. But they have to have, they don’t have to, but it’s best if they have, like, a to-do list. And as you can see here, I use GitHub as my to-do list for this project. And right now it’s working on these two items. Next up it has 37 items queued. A few things are waiting on me, a few things are in the backlog. But there is maybe 40, 50 tasks here. This had actually over 400 tasks at one point.
So you tell it, these are all the tasks or to-do lists that you want to do. If you work with clients as an agency, as an example, you might have tasks for them. And then you have that CMO agent go through that list and start working on these items for you. And they can even update the task list with what it’s been doing so far. But now you’re asking, so how does it actually know to do the work for you? So there are two ways. I’m going to show you how to do it manually, and also how to automate it, which you might not want to do. So, to do it manually, go back into Claude, start a new session, and I want to say, use the custom agents skill and the CMO to work on my to-do list.
In this example, GitHub, for TwelveTabs. Okay. And that’s it. And all of a sudden, it’s going to start looking at the to-do list, creating multiple sessions, and start delegating work to multiple agents. So if you want to do a little experiment, let’s do it together. So here’s my test. Use the custom agent skill, act as a CMO, and draft three emails in my inbox to show me how you can have three sessions working at once. I’m gonna send that, and you’re gonna watch what happens. Right now, it’s just one agent on the left. I can name this my CMO. It might name it for me, but I’ll just name it as my CMO again. You can have multiple CMO agents, as you’re starting to realize. And soon, you are gonna see, it’s going to create three sessions for me nested inside of it.
So here we go, creating three parallel sessions, three emails, here are the three sessions, and as you see on the left sidebar, you now have three nested sessions. Under the main agent. So the main agent is now orchestrating all this work for you. So this is great if you want to do prospecting, contacting leads, finding people online to sell to. It can do all that and then email each one individually in multiple sessions if you wanted to. And that helps you stay organized. That’s really why you want multiple sessions nested under each other. So you can quickly go back into either one. And if you want, you could go back in and talk to them and make things better. But if you didn’t want, you don’t have to. Because as you notice, I go back into the main CMO agent, and it knows all three are drafted because they talk to each other.
So I never... I don’t ever read my nested subagents, barely ever. I just go to my one main agent, and I communicate with that, and that’s all I do. And I want to show you something. If I scroll down my sidebar... And look at all my sessions for just today, and it’s pretty early in the day, you will see I have a bunch of these CMO sessions that are just doing work constantly for me. All these sessions today, I didn’t even read, I didn’t even look at. If I look at yesterday, same exact thing. Dozens and dozens of sessions are running. I know what it’s doing because I delegated the work to my main agent. Sometimes I go back and forth with that main agent if it has questions for me, but otherwise I never look or read any of this.
And that’s how I was able to create 700 blog posts, social media channels, videos, a SaaS app, everything. I’m experimenting with it now, but that’s exactly how you can have a multi-agent work. Orchestration. If you want to talk about the context of building your own app like I did, I didn’t build one feature at a time like most developers do. I had my CTO agent build me dozens of features all at once. Running completely autonomously for days until it finished. If you’re interested, by the way, in learning how to build your own app with Claude, let me know in the comments and I will make a video for how to do it. But now you know how to build your own agents and have them delegate an excessive amount of work for you. And so far, everything I’ve shown you, though, still requires you to start a new session.
And delegate work to either your CMO, CEO, agent, whatever agent you want, which then delegates work to the other agents that are subagents, nested agents, whatever you want to call them. But level three is the last and final unlock of this video, and it’s how I fully automate my work by putting all of these agents on autopilot with a schedule so it runs without me. But first, before we get there, if you’re getting value from this video, please do me a favor and hit that subscribe button. 90% of people that watch do not subscribe, but it really helps to grow this channel, so please do it right now. Thank you. Welcome to level three. How do you put your agents on autopilot? Claude used to call this feature routines, but now it’s called scheduled.
So instead of telling your CMO agent, as an example, to write blog posts for me every day, you can actually tell Claude to create a daily schedule that runs your CMO agent that writes 10 blog posts a day for you. Many of you might already be doing some variation of this, like telling Claude to reply to your emails daily, or giving you a daily summary of your day or your meetings. But, I have mine set up by having two agents run every single morning, and the last one is the most important in this entire video. The first is my CEO agent. It runs every single day on a schedule at around 6:50 a.m., and it analyzes... Every single Claude session I had the day before, all my emails, my calendar invites, my recording meetings, everything in the last 24 hours about my business or personal life.
And they will recommend the next day, what are the next actions to keep my personal and work life moving forward. And then it emails me and slacks me every day with exactly what I should be remembering or doing today. And it can even do a lot of the work for me. So to see where these scheduled routines or agents live, you’re going to click Scheduled on the top left of Claude. And here are all your scheduled tasks. Right now I’m filtering to show me my CEO one. I click into it, and if I click into it, you can see what it recommended and what it did for me today. So as you can see, two items need my attention today. The first is I need to create a Google Ads account for this app I’m building. And the second one, hey, there’s 67 marketing cards that need to be moved, that were moved to done.
I accomplished 67 things automatically for you. And yesterday, there were 11 pull requests and 11 deploys on your website. Things are just happening, right? Because I have agents doing all this for me. So, it will ask me, do you want to do these two things? Okay. So, it can say, you need to do X, Y, Z today. I can handle X and Y for you. Do you want me to handle it? And I just come back into Claude and say, yes, handle it. And there’s a pro tip, actually. Claude, if you connect it to your email or Slack or whatever tool you use, you can have it send you that email or message or daily briefing. And you could say, check that email or Slack message. For a reply, one hour later, two hours later. And if you reply and say, yes, do X and Y for me, it will read that and it will actually do the work for you.
So that’s how you start having this very cool feedback loop with your agents. The problem is, you will have a bunch of scheduled routines running every day. Check my emails, draft replies, look at my analytics, find me... Issues on my website, find new leads for me, manage my calendar, whatever it is. You’re gonna start having 10, 15 scheduled routines like I have, and you start getting overloaded with so many notifications, alerts, and emails that you get what I call, well, they call analysis paralysis. And you will just ignore all of them. My most important agent... That handles all the noise, filters out all the distractions, and gives me only one actionable summary every single day is my Chief of Staff agent.
I have over 15 scheduled routines running every day from midnight to 7 a.m., but none of them are allowed to message me. They’re only allowed to write an output file, and then the Chief of Staff analyzes all those files. And then emails or slacks me with exactly what needs my attention and what it can handle for me. And my chief of staff also knows every single skill I have installed on my computer. And it also has access to all my connectors like Google Drive, Gmail, Google Calendar, Notion, Slack, and also all my memory files. So if I ever need to tell one agent something, it’s my chief of staff. I always delegate work through that chief of staff. And it figures it out for me. I’ve been perfecting this for months, and I’m excited to share this Chief of Staff agent for you for just $9.99.
I’m just kidding. It’s completely free, and it’s actually already in the same download file in the video description. So when you open it up, you are going to have a folder called the Chief of Staff Routine. What you’re gonna do with that folder is you’re gonna start a new session in Claude, and then you’re just gonna drag that Chief of Staff routine folder into a Claude session, and it’s going to link it, and you say, set up this Chief of Staff routine for me. It actually selected that folder here. You could probably also drag it in a second time now. Let’s see. Yep, there you go. And it’s gonna start setting up the routine for you on your computer. And I highly recommend, if you really wanna go the extra mile, connect Claude to your Gmail, Google Calendar, your meeting recorder, like Granola, and anything else, so it will be even more powerful.
And feel free to do them in baby steps. And how to connect them, once again, click on your name on the bottom left, click on Settings, type in Connectors. And you’re gonna see, then you can start connecting all these things to your Claude. That’s how you do it. I have my life connected to it. And that’s pretty much it. So, that is agents in a nutshell. You now know all three levels. How to give an agent a name and a prompt, let it delegate to other agents, put them on a schedule, and 10x your productivity and work. And as a reminder, you can click the link in the description. And if you want another little hack, I’m also going to put a link in the description for the transcript of this video. So if you’re like, there are so many steps, what do I do? Just literally copy and paste the transcript to Claude and say, Claude, do everything for me, set it all up for me, and get going. For more tutorials like this, make sure to hit that subscribe button right now so you can get notified for my next video. And I’ll see you in the next one.
